    It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of two IBEW members — IBEW Local 676 Journeyman Lineman Jimmy Wasdin, age 41, and IBEW Local 1245 Fourth Step Apprentice Lineman Travis Shull, age 29 — who lost their lives in a workplace accident near Fairfield, CA on June 2, 2020.

    On the morning of June 3rd, 2020 we learned that Brother and past Local Union 77 Business Manager/Financial Secretary Lou Walter was involved in a serious auto accident in Spokane. Lou is currently at Deaconess Hospital in Spokane and in critical condition. We ask all to send their thoughts and prayers to brother Walter and his family. Due to COVID-19 visitors other than immediate family are not allowed.

    During these difficult times of the pandemic, the Village of Philmont and the membership ratified a three-year contract. Shop Steward Dale Wheeler and negotiating team member David Siter along with Labor Relations Representative Michael P. Kutski were able to work with the Village on a Three-year contract.

    Second Quarter Per Capita Stamp

    Hello Brothers & Sisters- The International has revised their credit of the second quarter per capita stamp; the new amount is $57.00 versus the previously credit of $19.   Local 33 is crediting all Members for the second quarter. If you have paid the second quarter you will have a credit to applied to your next quarter per capita stamp due.
    Attendance Bonus Program for another year!

    The company and I have negotiated to extend the Modified Attendance Bonus Program for another year!  Starting April 1, 2020 until December 31, 2020.  All of the qualifications will remain the same except one exemption - Caregivers on a full Temporary Layoff will not qualify for the attendance bonus for that quarter.

    The Election Committee has agreed that any person who joined the union prior to May 1, 2020 but was not accepted as a member due to the lack of union meetings, will be considered a member for the purpose of voting in the elction. Ballots for the Charlotte Area Local Election of Officers will be mailed at least 21 days prior to July 17, 2020.
    Hazard pay update

    Hazard pay update As Verizon is preparing to activate Phase 3 of their COVID-19 response, for eligible employees effective May 31, they will change Hazard Pay from $300 per week to $60 per day for each day worked outside the home. For those who are on a 4-day work week, the Hazard Pay will be $75 per day for each day worked outside the home.

    COVID – 19 Update As you all know, Verizon made the decision for technicians to again work inside customers' homes and businesses as of Monday, June 1st. CWA discussed postponing this move with them but Verizon refused to do so, claiming they had a sufficient supply of PPE on hand to keep all technicians safe.
